Your data, in plain English

We ask for as little as possible, we only use it for the thing you asked for, and there are no advertising trackers anywhere on this site. This page says exactly what that means.

Who we are

Our Kids Hub publishes early years guidance and resources at ourkidshub.co.uk. If you want to ask about anything on this page, or ask us to delete something, email caroline@ourkidshub.co.uk and we will reply within 30 days.

What we collect, and why

If you join a list

Some pages offer a waitlist, childminder updates, template updates, course interest or directory interest. If you fill one in, we collect your email address, and sometimes whether you are a parent or a practitioner, so we send you the right things.

We only use it for the thing you signed up for. Signing up to one list does not put you on another. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you immediately. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

If you send us a question

Our enquiry form collects your name, your email address and whatever you write in the message. We use it to reply to you, and nothing else. It does not add you to any mailing list. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us.

Please do not send us detailed health or diagnostic information about a child. We are not a clinical service and we would rather you did not put that in an email.

If you buy a course

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe passes us your email address and what you bought so we can send your access link and keep a record of the sale. Our lawful basis is performing the contract you entered into when you bought it.

One thing worth knowing so it does not alarm you: the payment account behind our checkout is registered under the name Send Navigate, so that is the name that may appear on your bank statement rather than Our Kids Hub. It is us.

When you simply read the site

We use Plausible for analytics. It is cookie-free, it collects no personal data, it does not follow you across other websites, and it is not connected to any advertising network. It tells us how many people read a page, and nothing that identifies you.

We chose it deliberately. Nobody reading our guide on postnatal mental health should be handed to an ad network because of it.

Cookies

We set no advertising cookies and no tracking cookies. That is why this site has no cookie banner — there is nothing to consent to. Our hosting provider may set a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep the site working and to block spam.

Who processes data for us

We use a small number of established suppliers, each for one job:

  • Netlify — hosts the site and receives form submissions.
  • MailerLite — stores our email lists and sends our newsletters.
  • SendGrid — sends transactional email, such as your course access link.
  • Stripe — takes payments.
  • Plausible — counts page views, without personal data.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for marketing. Some of these suppliers process data outside the UK; where they do, they do so under the safeguards UK data protection law requires.

How long we keep things

  • Mailing list entries — until you unsubscribe, or after two years with no opens, whichever comes first.
  • Enquiries — up to 12 months after we have answered you.
  • Purchase records — six years, because HMRC requires it.

Children

This site is written for adults — parents, carers and early years practitioners. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and we do not ask you for information about your child in order to use anything here.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. You can withdraw consent at any time. Email caroline@ourkidshub.co.uk and we will do it.

If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or call their helpline on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this page

If we change how we use your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
